WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
Learn the theory behind the conservation of archaeological finds from the marine environment. Learn about the different conservation methods required for different material types.
Participants will learn about the decay processes, first aid conservation and standard techniques used to stabilise and preserve a wide range of archaeological materials from the marine environment. The course will consist entirely of online theory sessions delivered by professional conservators and archaeologists.
Finds used in this course will have recently been raised finds from the Rooswijk and London wrecks
This is the pre-requisite course before the in-person practical course.

Anyone who is interested in the conservation of finds from the marine environment and who likes to learn through practical experience. This course is relevant to divers and non-divers.
5 NAS Credits will be awarded to NAS members to go towards their NAS Certificate or Award.
