Promoting Maritime Heritage Through Social Media

WHAT'S IT ABOUT?

Participants will gain practical experience of using popular social media platforms to promote their maritime heritage activities and projects. They will get expert tips on content creation, methods of promotion and evaluation of social media effectiveness.

This course aims to give lay people an introduction to the world of effective content creation, and equip them with hints and tips to make and post professional looking content for social media; including image creation, video production and copywriting.

WHO'S THE TUTOR
Charlotte Crumpler is the NAS Public Engagement Officer and creator of our promotional social media content, who has undertaken a similar role for several charities whilst studying degrees in communications and media practice.

WHO'S IT FOR?
Anyone who wants to expand their social media proficiency, improve their online engagement skills and learn easy and effective ways of sharing their maritime archaeology discoveries and projects with the online world.

Participants may be interested in attending the Public Engagement - the big picture the day before.

NAS members will earn 5 credits towards their Certificate or Award.

WHAT YOU NEED TO JOIN THE ONLINE COURSE
A computer or tablet (phone screens are a bit small to look at for the whole day) with a good internet connection is essential. A built-in or external webcam and microphone are optional. A week before the course you will receive an invitation to the online course session which will be run through GoToMeeting. This is an online video conferencing programme that can be run directly through the internet or you get better connection if you download the small programme - it only takes a minute to do.
