Windermere Jetty Museum to host Shipshape Network North Hub event
Our Shipshape Network North Hub, Windermere Jetty Museum, will host the first ever Hub event on Thursday 5 May. This is a chance to share skills and knowledge across the boat building community, with a host of expert speakers from Maritime and heritage boat organisations from around the UK converging on Windermere.
Stephen Beresford, Senior Conservation Boatbuilder at Windermere Jetty Museum, will open the event and he and the team will be running guided tours at various points during the day. There will be an introduction to NHS-UK, the Shipshape Network and Hub Initiative; a talk on what the Shipshape Network North Hub can do for you; and a presentation from Winter & Co. Marine on their Historic Ships Insurance Policy, specially designed for, and tailored to, craft on the Registers.
The main focus of the event will be project talks from seven different Shipshape Network and maritime heritage projects around the North, with opportunities for questions from the audience after each talk. Speakers are from the following projects:
- Hull: Yorkshire’s Maritime Heritage - About the project
- Friends of LV50 - Creating learning resources
- National Museum of the Royal Navy, Hartlepool - RML 497 - a new start
- National Waterways Museum - Best Practise project
- Stuart Norton - creating a 3D model of historic vessels
- Daniel Adamson Preservation Society - How can historic craft nurture wellbeing?
- Ship Happens - Developing a story around your project
- Steam Tug Kerne - maintaining a historic vessel with a volunteer workforce
Tickets to the event include talks, refreshments, and a tour of the museum.
