WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

Spend a weekend in Chatham exploring museum exhibitions, learning how they are created and then make a mini-version of your own exhibition. Participants will gain an appreciation for what goes into to creating an exhibition and will learn how to critically evaluate museum displays. You’ll never look at a museum the same way again!

On Saturday, see the amazing discoveries that have recently been made on the wreck site of HMS Invincible at an innovative museum exhibition. Learn about museum exhibition design techniques and what goes into making a good exhibition. You’ll then have the opportunity to evaluate the exhibition and be contribute to the final project evaluation report completed by the Museum of the Royal Navy.

On Sunday, participants will learn more about the nuts and bolts of creating a museum exhibition and will then have the option to put their new museum design and evaluation skills into practice at the Making a Mini-Museum course. Participants can have an exhibition topic in mind or there will be real artefacts available to use for inspiration.
