National Maritime continues to work closely with our partners Newhaven Enterprise Zone, Lewes District and Eastbourne Borough Councils and the South East Local Enterprise Partnership to establish a Maritime and Sustainable Technology Hub in Newhaven to support the maritime sector across Sussex.
After successfully helping to secure a share of the £85m Government ‘Getting Building Fund’ to convert the former Marine Workshop, Newhaven, Sussex building into a Maritime and Sustainable Technology hub, we are delighted to learn that Newhaven town centre is also set to benefit from a multi-million pound award, after Lewes District Council, secured £5,004,939 from the governments future high streets fund.
The successful council bid, entitled Re-imagining Newhaven, will only add further value and help build more momentum behind our work at the Marine Workshop, the second of three National Maritime ‘Blue Space’ maritime hubs earmarked for London and the South East of England, that will support maritime SMEs and help regenerate coastal communities.
The Marine Workshop, Sussex will actively seek to encourage those industries involved in the design, construction, maintenance and operation of environmental, engineering and maritime products and services (clean, green and marine technologies) to invest in Newhaven.
