SOCSEA24 GRAND MARITIME CHARITY BALL IN AID OF THE 200th ANNIVERSARY OF THE RNLI Grand Maritime Charity Ball | Greenwich Maritime | December 2024

2024 sees the RNLI celebrate 200 years of saving lives at sea.

To celebrate the RNLI’s 200th anniversary, and our admiration for their work on the Thames since 2022, the river yacht Silver Sturgeon will host the fundraising Grand Maritime RNLI Ball in December 2024 from Greenwich Pier with Woods’ Silver Fleet.

Usually only available for private charter by clients such as Bentley, Bulgari Hotels and Chanel, the 61m flagship will embark within the beautiful historic riverscape at Greenwich and cruise through London’s spectacular sights and bridges lit with the ‘Illuminated River’ artwork.

Executive Head Chef, Marcus Cunningham, has written a menu bursting with the abundance of the season from our seas and fields, matched with fines wines, great live music and a chance to bid in an auction hosted by a celebrity auctioneer including a one hour drumming lesson with Mark Pusey, drummer to Ed Sheeran, Elton John and Tom Jones (and RNLI volunteer) and a private tour of the secret beauty of Wren’s domes at the Royal Naval College.

The Grand Maritime Charity Ball is open to all from any sector or members of the public who would like to enjoy a night on board the Silver Sturgeon and support a fantastic cause at the same time.

Special Guests: Sir Robin Knox-Johnston CBE RD, sailing legend and Vice President of the RNLI will be our honorary guest for the evening. Sir Robin was the first person to sail single handed and non-stop around the world between 1968-69. Take the opportunity to speak with the adventurer and hear his fascinating stories. National radio and Magic Radio presenter and household name, Nick Snaith, will be our celebrity charity auctioneer for the evening. He brings decades of experience to his delivery and is sure to keep everyone entertained whilst we raise much deserved fund for the RNLI.

Dress Code: The Grand Maritime Charity Ball is your chance to dress to impress. An elegant affair calling for creative black-tie attire. The theme for the evening is ‘To be Truly Blue, We must also Think Green’, so please do be inspired to add either a flourish or a full outfit of blue and/or green. Personality, glitz and glamour is encouraged.

For more information about the event please see our guide which includes details of the sustainably sourced menu for the evening.
