Solis Marine Engineering was established in 2018 and is led by Managing Director Simon Hindley. Based in Falmouth, UK and Singapore, SME provides a range of engineering services to the clean shipping, offshore renewables and oil and gas sectors as well as related industries. Our team of naval architects and engineers come from varied backgrounds in the shipping, oil and gas, defence and renewable energy industries. The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) is a registered charity and the international professional body and learned society for all marine professionals in over 120 countries. It is the largest marine organisation of its kind and the first Institute to bring together over 12,500 marine engineers, scientists and technologists into one international multi-disciplinary professional body. They promote the development of marine engineering, science and technology, providing opportunities for the exchange of ideas and practices and uphold the safety, status, standards and knowledge of marine professionals worldwide, and a representation channel to regulatory bodies. The IMarEST is a nominated and licensed body of the Engineering Council (UK), a member of the Science Council and has links with maritime organisations worldwide, unrivalled by similar organisations of their kind, including consultative status at the International Maritime Organization (IMO). It provide grades of membership for everyone working in a marine-related role, from those seeking to become Chartered or other Professional Recognition, to those just starting out in their careers or studying in education - enhancing the professional development of marine engineers, scientists and technologists at all stages of their careers. Through its international Branches and multidisciplinary Special Interest Groups (SIGs), they enable marine professionals to engage on relevant topics, share knowledge and drive change.
