Today we honour the men and women of the sea

To those that have served or given their lives in past conflicts and to those that continue to bring us 90% of everything we use, thank you.

We thought we would share with you some old footage of cadets being put through their paces.

There has been a National Sea Training College in Gravesend since 1918.  Founded to train boys aged 15/16 to join the Merchant Navy.

Around 70,000 were trained there & it became known as the best sea training school in the world. A tradition maintained today by our partners the National Maritime Training Centre North Kent College led by Stephen Watkins
