National Maritime in partnership with the Greenwich Maritime Centre delivers a series of events each year that cater for every person and every business, whether you are looking for networking breakfasts, international events, conferences, exhibitions, sectors support workshops, training, general or facilitated networking, briefings on topical issues, or want to entertain clients, we have an event for you.

Solent University recently opened their new Ship Simulation Suite. This has a range of facilities, including bridge simulators, an engine control room simulator, an onshore and offshore crane simulator and liquid cargo operations simulators.

This talk will cover the use for training seafarers and also the virtual shipyard technology, allowing the simulation and analysis of ships at the design stage.

Attendance: Open to all RINA and IMarEST members, their guests, non-members and students.

Event price: Free

Additional event information: Access to the parking is via St Andrews Rd. Car Parking may no longer be free and is Pay by Phone only.
Please be careful of access to the university site via the dual carriageway.
Refreshments served from 1830 hrs.

Event contact:

Event speaker: Jonathan Ridley, Southampton Solent University. Jonathan started his career at the Defence Evaluation Research Agency (DERA) and later QinetiQ at Haslar. Following this Jonathan joined Warsash Maritime Academy, teaching naval architecture and ship stability on both the navigation and engineering programmes to both cadets and senior officers in the Merchant Navy. In 2014, Jonathan co-authored ‘Reeds Volume 13 Ship Stability, Powering and Resistance’, part of the renowned Reeds Marine Engineering and Technology Series.
