WHY ATTEND?

  • Hear the latest progress – Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in Wales, alongside future opportunities.
  • Join the discussion – The event provides a forum to discuss key challenges and opportunities and to encourage collaboration and business networking.
  • Network – Last year we welcomed 200+ professionals representing 120 different organisations from across Europe, including supply chain, technology developers, academia and government.

FURTHER REASONS TO ATTEND

  • Wales has been awarded the highest level of support from the European Union for the Structural Funds programming round 2014-2020. Marine Energy is a priority area and has attracted funding of €100.4 million with an intervention rate of 69.43%.
  • The Swansea Bay City Deal has been signed off with eleven major projects underway including the £76 million Pembroke Dock Marine, which aims to develop a world class centre for marine energy development, fabrication, testing and deployment in Pembrokeshire.
  • Several tidal power developers from around the world have been awarded berths at the Morlais Demonstration Zone off the coast of Anglesey, amid continued interest from others. This is a £33m project which has recently been awarded £4.5 million of EU and Welsh Government funds.
  • A feasibility study has been completed for the Pembrokeshire Demonstration Zone – the world’s largest wave energy seabed lease, which is also now being developed for floating offshore wind. This study was part funded by WEFO and Welsh Government. Wave Hub Ltd, the seabed leaseholder, is planning to start the detailed design and consenting phase of work in the first quarter of 2019.
  • Hear about developments being made in projects across Wales including companies such as Bombora Wavepower, Minesto, Marine Power Systems and Nova Innovation
  • The conference is a platform to learn about existing projects in Wales, alongside sector developments and opportunities. It also provides a forum to discuss key challenges and opportunities and to encourage collaboration and business networking.
  • Since 2010, the Marine Energy Pembrokeshire/Marine Energy Wales annual conferences have been fully booked. The number of supply chain companies, supporting organisations and technology developers has increased year on year, demonstrating the advancement of the sector and a growing interest in Wales. In 2018 we welcomed 200+ delegates who represented 120 global organisations of which; 37% were supply chain companies, 20% were technology developers, 11% were research delegates, 16% Governmental representatives, and 16% offered specialist support.
  • Feedback from previous events, “This was the most positive ocean energy conference I have attended. In just one day there was a tremendous amount of information shared by industry, a real willingness to engage and I got a feel that Marine Energy Wales was really moving forward in collaboration.”
