With €100.4 million of EU Structural Funds prioritised for marine energy in Wales, two array scale Demonstration Zones, seabed agreements in place for 3 separate tidal projects and a number of proposals for tidal range projects, Wales has the potential to be a world-leader in the marine energy market.

Come to the Marine Energy Wales Annual Conference and find out more about current projects in Wales and future plans.

Networking Dinner

Thursday 19th April, 7pm
Cardiff Castle

Come and enjoy the hwyl* by joining us for our annual networking dinner, this year being held in the spectacular Banqueting Hall of Cardiff Castle. Continue discussions and make new contacts in one of Wales’ leading heritage attractions, surrounded by centuries of history.
The standing dinner format encourages networking in a relaxed setting, enabling people to mingle easily. Dinner tickets are sold separately from conference tickets and can be purchased during registration. Please ensure you tell us about any dietary requirements.

*Hwyl / noun (Welsh) – a stirring feeling of emotional motivation and energy

Reasons to attend:

  • Wales has been awarded the highest level of support from the European Union for the Structural Funds programming round 2014-2020. Marine Energy is a priority area and has attracted funding of €100.4 million with an intervention rate of 69.43%.
  • The Swansea Bay City Deal has been signed off with eleven major projects underway including the £76 million Pembroke Dock Marine, which aims to develop a world class centre for marine energy development, fabrication, testing and deployment in Pembrokeshire.
  • Morlais have awarded eight tidal energy developers berth access in the West Anglesey Demonstration Zone. A feasibility study is underway for the world’s largest wave energy seabed lease off of Pembrokeshire’s coast. Both third party managers will provide an update on progress and outline their aims for the Demonstration Zones.
  • Hear about developments being made in projects across Wales from companies such as Minesto, Wave-tricity, Marine Power Systems and Tidal Lagoon Power.
  • The conference is a platform to learn about existing projects in Wales, alongside sector developments and opportunities. It also provides a forum to discuss key challenges and opportunities and to encourage collaboration and business networking.
