About this Event
Scotland is a marine nation that sits in a strategically important location with respect to global ocean circulation. As a country we are much warmer than other countries at a similar latitude because of the ocean and have benefited greatly from marine energy, aquaculture and the well being associated with a visit to the coast. However, human impacts on the ocean are significant. Our attention is moving to the resources in deeper waters while the added consequences of increases in atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations are placing further pressures on the plants and animals that live in the ocean. This talk will explore the need for a step change in how we reduce human impacts on the ocean.
