XDMC Ltd is a small engineering company specialising in variable speed drives, control and automation solutions for the automotive test, power and marine sectors.

The engineering team has a wealth of experience in electric drives and controls for high power propulsion systems with the majority of the experience being with retrofitting bespoke, class approved, control system upgrades replacing obsolete unsupportable control platforms.

With the increasing demand for hybrid or all-electric vessels to meet legislative requirements for higher efficiencies and lower emissions, XDMC are putting their extensive experience with power converters and DC Grid technology to use in developing practical solutions to help boat builders, designers and operators integrate these types systems into their vessels.

XDMC work with designers and naval architects at the concept stage to develop the optimum solution dependant on the operational profile of the vessel, maximum weight considerations for installed equipment and the physical space in which to install it. Considerations are given to the need for energy storage, the practical installed capacity and the need for shore charging and the alternative use of clean fuels like hydrogen. Control systems are specified to integrate all the power generation and electric propulsion equipment and power converters to give the required class approved dependability and efficiency for the vessel for all defined operating modes.

Once the system has been specified XDMC also has the capability along with key integrator partners to carry out system design, class approvals, engineering, build , test and commissioning complete with integrated power and energy management system.

XDMC are also able to supply scalable shore to ship power supply systems for any ports requiring this function.
