Hispanic Feminist responses to the British Suffragettes

King's College London & Canning House Visiting Fellow Francesca Denegri speaks on her research into tensions between the British Suffragette movement and Hispanic feminist networks in the late-19th and early-20th century, utilising the Canning House Library collection at KCL.

In this series, the academics of King's College London and Canning House's joint Visiting Fellowship Programme speak about their research projects, which have taken advantage of the extensive Canning House Library collection at KCL.

In this edition, Professor Francesca Denegri, our second Visiting Fellow and Professor of Hispanic American Literature at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, will discuss her research project, exploring tensions between the British Suffragette movement and Hispanic feminist networks in the late-19th and early-20th century, with Professor Catherine Davies.

Utilising a wide range of writings, including letters, journals and travelogues, Francesca aims to highlight the curiously ambivalent responses of Hispanic feminists to the activities of their counterparts in the UK.
