National Maritime Launch:
Fisheries Working Group (London & South East)
The Fisheries Working Group (London and South East) will promote and support the fishing and aquaculture sector in the South East (London, Sussex, Kent, Essex).
With Maria Caulfield, MP for Lewes, Sussex; this group has been founded by leading members of the Newhaven and Sussex Inshore Fishing fleet, the region’s commercial fishing ports, and National Maritime, the business engagement group and the UK’s leading maritime network for SME’s.
By bringing together fishing industry specialists in this area, the FLSE will support the region’s entire fishing industry, to ensure continued development and strengthen its position as the leading centre in the UK for the processing and marketing of seafood and aquaculture produce.
Its goal is to deliver a community led long-term strategy, working with the entire supply chain from the marine environment to the end consumer.
The group will be chaired National Maritime Chief Executive, Peter Green. It will be supported by the National Maritime secretariat from its Blue Space Maritime and Sustainable Technology Hubs, at Newhaven and Kent, where there is access to workspace, programmes of business, enterprise, research, and training support. The FLSE will also feed into the National Maritime SME Working Group, and its champions, to help further influence policy-making decisions at local, regional, and national levels.
The National Maritime SME Maritime Working Group’s objective is to help drive trade and growth for all and amplify the voice of UK maritime SMEs. The FLSE will unite under the Quality Mark for Maritime SMEs, for companies that ‘Source, Service or Produce’ in the UK.
The FLSE will meet bi-monthly and will share news, updates, and progress via on-line platforms. We are currently planning the inaugural meeting, and to this aim we invite EOI from all interested businesses interested in working with the group.
